Dog Stolen During Home Invasion Recovered

A dog, allegedly stolen during a home invasion in Dundalk, was later recovered and returned to its owner after two suspects were arrested, according to Baltimore County police.

Preliminary trial dates for two Cambridge men are set for Sept. 16.

The dog, a Shih Tzu valued at $400, was the only thing stolen during the reported home invasion. The alleged burglary occurred at approximately 1 p.m. on Aug. 16 in the 200 block of Chestnut Street.

Shih Tzu, originally from China, are typically distinctive, long-haired dogs; a breed recognized by the American Kennel Club. The dog's owner is listed in police reports as a 26-year-old local woman.

According to police reports, three suspects were identified by witnesses. Two of the suspects were later arrested and charged.

Michael Tyler Spears, 21, of the 500 block of Poplar Street, Cambridge, was charged with first-degree burglary, malicious destruction of property and theft of less than $1,000. According to online court records, Spears was released from Baltimore County Detention Center Aug. 17 after posting bond.
