Dundalk Crash Victim Has No Recollection of Incident

Middle River resident Laura Jean Vandenhuerk is unsure if she suffered a medical event or fell asleep at the wheel.

The woman who hit a tree with her car on Merritt Boulevard on Tuesday has no recollection of the crash, according to Baltimore County police officials.

Laura Jean Vandenhuerk, 41, of the unit block of Nacelle Road in Middle River, was driving her 2004 Pontiac Vibe at about 4 p.m. Jan. 22, when her car left the road and according to police Spokeswoman Louise Rogers-Feher.

Vandenhuerk was flown to the University of Maryland's R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center with critical injuries.

"She does not remember what happened," Rogers-Feher said of Vandenhuerk. "She's unsure if she had a medical event or fell asleep, but she does not remember the crash."

No additional information about Vandenhuerk's condition was available Thursday.
