Early Morning Dundalk Car Crash Injures Four People

Two drivers and two others were taken to local hospitals with serious injuries.

An early morning car crash in Dundalk on Friday injured four people who were taken to local hospitals.

The crash occurred at 12:36 a.m. Aug. 10 at the intersection of Wise and Lynch avenues, according to Baltimore County Police spokeswoman Louise Rogers-Feher.

Miranda Shae Vargas, 17, of the 1900 block of Codd Avenue, was driving her 1999 Dodge Durango SUV westbound on Lynch Road when she was struck by a Dodge Ram pickup truck driven by Ryan Joseph Hibler, 43, of the 7500 block of Holabird Avenue, according to police accounts.

Vargas had a green light on Lynch Avenue and was proceeding across Wise Avenue when she was struck by Hibler, Rogers-Feher said. Hibler was driving at a "high rate of speed" and ran a red light, according to the spokeswoman.

At least one passenger in Hibler's truck was also injured.  It was unclear how the fourth person was injured.   Three advanced life support medic units responded to the site to provide assistance, Rogers-Feher said.

Hibler suffered serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. Two other patients were also taken to Bayview.

Vargas was flown to Johns Hopkins Hospital's trauma center, Rogers-Feher said.

The crash is still under investigation, but preliminary investigations show Hibler to be at fault by way of his speeding and running a red light, the spokeswoman said.
