Officials Investigate Edgemere House Fire

Nobody was home when flames emerged from a house on Bay Front Road Monday.

UPDATE (4:45 p.m.)—A house fire was reported in Edgemere Monday at 11:58 a.m., according to Baltimore County Police and Fire spokeswoman Louise Rogers-Fehrer.

The fire was on the 7400 block of Bay Front Road, she said.

"Flames were coming from the front of the house," said Rogers-Fehrer, who noted that by the time the first engine arrived at 12:03 p.m., many people had called to report the blaze.

In all, Rogers-Fehrer said that 17 emergency vehicles responded to the incident.

Engine 9 from Edgemere was the first on the scene, and its crew reported seeing heavy smoke around and throughout the single-family home, Rogers-Fehrer said.

She said the fire was under control at 12:37 p.m. and the cause remains under an investigation. BGE was called to the scene, as was an arson investigation team, which Rogers-Fehrer said was standard procedure.
