Injured Man Rescued from Waters Off Fort Howard

Two 911 callers offered differing stories as to how the man was injured, according to a Baltimore County Police Department official.

(Update, 4:13 p.m.)—Baltimore County Police Department officials have confirmed that a man was injured when he jumped from the four- to five-foot-high ledge of a lighthouse off the tip of Fort Howard, near the Fort Howard VA Medical Center campus.

He was transported by medics to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center for serious injuries needing immediate treatment, according to police officials.

A man has been rescued and is in the care of paramedics after being injured in the water off Fort Howard, according to Baltimore County Police Department officials.

Police and water rescue units were dispatched to the waterfront at the end of the North Point peninsula at about 2:57 p.m. Monday for the report of an injured man in the water, according to Julia Hardgrove of Baltimore County's public safety communications office.

There are conflicting reports as to how the man was injured, Hardgrove said.

"I cannot confirm at this time how the man was injured, but he is being treated at this time," she said at about 3:35 p.m.
