K-9 Unit Catches Alleged Thief

A 30-year-old Dundalk man who was apprehended by a Baltimore County Police K-9 unit faces trial later this year on several theft charges after a witness reported seeing someone breaking into a car on St. Augustine Lane,  police said.

After receiving a call about an auto theft break-in in the 4400 block of St. Augustine Lane at approximately 2:30 a.m. Sept. 29, a Baltimore County police K-9 unit responded and allegedly found Shaun Brown, of the 7800 block of St. Fabian Lane, hiding between vehicles several blocks away on the same street, police said.

According to police, the suspect matched the description of the alleged thief that had been given to police.

While allegedly hiding between the vehicles, Brown received several warnings from police before attempting to flee the area, police say. Once Brown allegedly attempted to run away, the K-9 dog was deployed, apprehending Brown, according to police reports

Brown received puncture wounds to his buttocks and left knee, according to police.

He was charged with resisting arrest, malicious destruction of property, two counts of theft of less than $1,000, two counts of theft of less than $100 and four counts of rogue and vagabond allegations related to possessing burglary tools. He was released from Baltimore County Detention Center on Oct. 5.

A trial has been set for Dec. 8.
