Merritt Boulevard Gas Station Hit by Armed Robbers

A sampling of recent crimes in the Dundalk area, including armed robbery, arson and the theft. Merritt BP car wash is the latest local business hit by armed robbers.

On Feb. 11, four automotive rear-drive axles, worth approximately $950, were stolen from a parking lot in the 8000 block of Pinewood Road.

On Feb. 12, the Merritt BP car wash at 800 Merritt Blvd. was robbed by two men, at least one of whom was armed. At approximately 10 p.m., a suspect entered the store and made a purchase. The suspect returned and began to make another purchase when a second, armed suspect, also entered the store. The armed suspect grabbed the BP employee by the arm and pointed a gun in his chest as the other suspect stole approximately $500 in cash. The suspects attempted to remove a bolted lock box from the floor behind the counter, but could not lift it. They fled when a customer entered the store.

On Feb. 12, at 8:20 p.m., near the intersection of Willow Spring Road and Baltimore Avenue, a 14-year-old boy was pulled off his bicycle, thrown to the ground and robbed by several assailants, according to police reports. The youth was hit in the head and robbed while a black, airsoft gun was pointed at him. His cell phone was later recovered.

On Feb. 12, at 4:30 p.m., a couple bought laptop computers in the parking lot of North Point Liquors in the 1100 block of North Point Blvd. Then, they realized the computers in the boxes were not the computers they were supposed to be. The couple proceeded to confront the men who sold them the computers and proceeded to follow them in their car on the Baltimore beltway. After stopping at Belair Road, one of the suspects who sold the couple the computers pointed a gun at the couple. The suspects, according to the couple who bought the computers, had other guns in their car. The license plate on the suspects' vehicle revealed the car was owned by Enterprise Rent-A-Car.

On Feb. 14, a fire was started on a mattress in the rear of a building in the 600 block of Main St., spreading to the dwelling and causing significant damage.
