(Update 11:25 a.m) Dozens of Baltimore County police officers and SWAT team members—some wearing camouflage, body armor and carrying automatic weapons—closed Fairgreen Road in Dundalk Friday night after a man was shot and the suspected shooter barricaded himself in his home.

An unidentified man, 45-years-old, was shot several times, including in the face, at approximately 9:30 p.m. outside a home in the 7800 block of Fairgreen Road, a street of single family houses tucked against a cove across from Merritt Point Park. The victim was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in critical, but stable condition, according to Baltimore County police spokesman Lt. Rob McCollough.

The suspect is a 55-year-old white male, according to McCollough. He remained barricaded in his home into the early morning hours of Saturday,

No one else was hurt in the initial shooting. At approximately 11 p.m., the barricaded suspect allowed his wife to leave the house after the Baltimore County hostage negotiation team had arrived on the scene.

At approximately 4 a.m., a tactical unit team entered the home and found the barricaded suspect unconscious, taking the suspect into custody. The suspect was being interviewed by detectives at police headquarters Saturday morning.

The victim also lives in the neighborhood, according to police, who said the victim pulled his vehicle into the suspect's driveway accidentally, leading to an altercation. The suspected shooter, according to police, grabbed a handgun and fired multiple shots at the victim. Neighbors believed the victim was still in his vehicle at the time he was shot.

The suspect is believed to have been drinking and may have been taking drugs as well, McCollough said.

More 20 police cars closed off both ends of Fairgreen Road, not far from the Watersedge Community Center, as officers with K-9 dogs and several tactical units sealed off the area. Police armored trucks also arrived on the scene.

Officers told residents to remain in their homes as a police helicopter kept watch overhead.

Officers and rescue officials established a staging area at the nearby Sollers Point Technical High School.
