Police Seek Information About St. Helena Shooting

Baltimore County police responding to a call about gunshots and "banging noises" initially found neither a victim nor witnesses. A victim later sought treatment at a local hospital for a gunshot wound.

Baltimore County Police Department officials are asking for the public's help in piecing together the details of a shooting thought to have happened in St. Helena Friday afternoon.

At about 4:40 p.m. Friday, Baltimore County police were dispatched to the 200 block of St. Helena Avenue for reports of gunshots and "banging noises" in the area. When they arrived, they were unable to find a victim or witnesses, according to a statement from department officials.

At 5:05 p.m., Baltimore County police officials were told by Baltimore city police that a man had walked into an area hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to his leg.

The victim's injuries are not considered to be life-threatening and he is expected to recover, according to the statement.

Members of the Baltimore County Violent Crimes Unit are investigating the case, though few details are known.
