Update: Police Shoot Suspect in Dundalk Home Invasion

A man was shot by Baltimore County police after a woman called to report that there was a masked, armed suspect inside her home on the 3200 block of Wallford Ave. Monday morning.

Baltimore County police said an officer shot a man following a home invasion Monday morning in Dundalk.

According to a news release from the police department, a woman awoke around 10 a.m. to find a masked, armed man in her home on the 3200 block of Wallford Ave.

Police said the woman left her house and called 911.

Officers responded to a call of an armed robbery in progress.

One of the officers found a man armed with a semi-automatic handgun on the back porch.  The officer repeatedly ordered the man to drop the weapon, but he refused to comply and turned towards the officer. 

The officer then fired his service weapon, striking the man several times. 

The suspect, a 27 year-old man, has been treated and released from the hospital. 

The suspect robbed the victims of an undisclosed amount of money.  It is not  known if there is any connection between the suspect and the victims. 

"I was in my living room cleaning when, I heard the cops speed down the road," said Christina Zeberlein a neighbor. “Then I heard about six shots.”

The man was transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center for treatment, where his condition is unknown, according to the release.

The officer has been placed on routine administrative leave pending the results of an internal review of the incident.
