Three Alarm Blaze Erupts at Didi's Pizzeria

Baltimore County Fire Department reports no one was seriously injured in the blaze

UPDATE (3:40 p.m.)—A three-alarm fire on Sunday destroyed in Dundalk and damaged offices above the shop and the 7-Eleven located in the same building in the 7400 block of Holabird Avenue.

An employee at Didi’s suffered minor burns on his hands and 7-Eleven employees were treated by EMS, but no one was taken to the hospital, Baltimore County Fire Department Capt. Ross Cooke said.

Cooke said the department is still investigating the cause of the fire. Cooke said it is possible that the fire was fueled by gas and that BG&E had to cut off the gas to the building.

The fire was first reported at about 12:20 p.m. and firefighters had the blaze under control after nearly an hour.

Robert Epperson, owner of the, was working when he and his employees noticed smoke coming from the ventilation. He said a customer came in and said Didi’s was on fire and that he called 911 before running out of the building.

Now Epperson said he is worried about possibly having to lay off employees if the store is closed too long.

“I’m really concerned about the employees because if there’s that much smoke damage I’ll have to close for a least a few weeks,” Epperson said.
