Baltimore County Seeks Woman of the Year Nominees

The deadline to submit nominations for the awards program is Jan. 11.

The Baltimore County Commission for Women is accepting nominations for its annual "Woman of the Year" and "Young Woman of the Year" awards program.

Now in its 31st year, the program recognizes and honors women for their contributions to community that "further the interest of women and families," according to a statement from Marjorie Hampson, director of the Baltimore County Office of Tourism and Promotion.

Female residents of Baltimore County who have made "significant, unique and lasting" contributions to the community, workplace or school are eligible for the Woman of the Year award, according to Hampson.

Female high school seniors attending a Baltimore County school who have made similar contributions to the community are eligible for the Young Woman of the Year award.

Dundalk's own Irene Spatafore, founder of Angels Supporting Your Troops, is the county's reigning Woman of the Year.

Previous winners and elected leaders are not eligible to be nominated.

The deadline to submit nominations is Friday, Jan. 11. Honorees will be notified after Jan. 18 and the awards will be presented in March.
