The Baltimore County Council voted unanimously to have councilwoman Cathy Bevins chair the council for 2014.

Bevins, a Democrat from District 5, is the third woman to ever chair the Baltimore County Council, and the second woman this term hold the post. She joins current councilwoman Vicki Almond and former councilwoman Barbara Bachur as the only female chairs of the council.

"I am humbled by the trust and confidence that my fellow Council members have expressed by selecting me to serve as their chair," Bevins said in a press release. "I will do my best to provide meaningful representation and continue the tradition of fiscally responsible oversight in my role as Council Chair."

Councilman John Olszewski Sr. nominated Bevins to the position during the council's meeting on Monday. The council elects the chair during the first meeting of the calendar year.

The council has rubber stamped everything Kamenetz has wanted. They have done nothing to investigate any ethical issues since their existence. I don't see any change coming. In the county the developers and Jim Smith rule.

Buzz Beeler, can't control this post can you?? Can't take down posts here just because you want to be the "bully" of Patch. The following comes from Beelers latest blog about our gov't electeds and employees, shocker! He took down two posts because it didn't fit his narrative, again shocker. He refuses to admit his mistake but Buzz you can't control everything on Patch! Why can't you just respond to the question and issue. Why keep deflecting from the issue. Chris Christie can apologize, Councilman O can admit a mistake what's the problem? 1. post was deleted and the claim was made it was because it was a personal attack 2. that was totally wrong and not true 3. prove the post was an attack or admit the mistake in removing the post You keep attacking me rather than address the issue. All I ask is that Mr. Beeler admits it was a mistake to remove the post and it really wasn't a personal attack. That's all, it's really not that hard.

Buzz, the "truth" is hard to face sometimes. All of this could have ended with a simple phrase, "I made a mistake in taking down the posts, it was not a personal attack". That's all, just a simple statement that just says you made a mistake, which has proven over the course of 4 days to be true. Just man up and either put the posts back up or take the entire blog down. Your choice. It ends all of this. Try to live up to the words you write. You "claim" to write the truth, well here's your chance to live the truth.
