The temporary water service disruption was caused by a contractor hitting the water line to the Colgate tank.

About 2,600 homes and businesses in eastern Baltimore County are without water this afternoon as the result of a contractor damaging the water line to the Colgate tank.

The water main break occurred on Simmons Avenue near the tank, according to a statement from the Baltimore City Department of Public Works.
