Sometimes losing sets you up for winning something even bigger.
That was exactly the case recently when Dundalk resident Beth Bunch entered three losing $5 Baltimore Ravens scratch-off Maryland Lottery tickets in the agency's second-chance drawing.
She entered her losing ticket numbers to bid on the season ticket prize, which proved to be a winning decision when her name was drawn from 136,816 entries in that category, according to a statement from the lottery agency.
She told lottery officials that, while she has many friends who would like to go to games with her, she has promised the other season-opener seat to her father.
Bunch wasn't the only big winner in a drawing held earlier this month, according to lottery officials.
Mark Reynolds of Eldersburg, who said he bought the Ravens lottery tickets regularly throughout the season, won $1 million in the second-chance contest.
More than 100 lottery players have won a variety of second-chance prizes through this year’s Ravens Cash Fantasy contest, including Ravens season tickets, trips with the team, gameday packages and cash prizes, according to officials.
Additional drawings for $25,000 prizes will be held Feb. 28 and March 28. Two $250,000 prizes are still available in the Ravens lottery tickets program, and tickets are available at more than 4,300 retail locations across the state.

The first place winner won ravens tickets for life and the second place winner won a million dollars?....Should the winnings awarded have been the other way around?....The second place winner did better....much better. And I am a raven fan.
