The United Steelworkers of Maryland and the Marylanders for Offshore Wind coalition invites you to join attend a community town hall forum focusing on a proposal by Governor O'Malley to construct a 400 - 600 megawatt wind energy farm off of the coast of Ocean City.
The project would generate enough energy to power half of the homes in Baltimore City, and according to the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development would create around 2400 jobs statewide, including jobs for steelworkers in Sparrows Point. Futher the project could help stabilize our energy costs, and by jumpstarting a vital clean energy industry, help to cut air pollution and associated health and climate change impacts.
State Senator Kathy Klausmier will likely attend and will be joined by a panel of experts to discuss these impacts.
