Wondering What's Closed in Baltimore County for Christmas, New Year's?

Keep up with closures of government offices and services, schools, trash and recycling pickup and more.

As the winter holiday season approaches, keep track of what's open and closed in Baltimore County and Greater Dundalk.

In Dundalk, the Chamber of Commerce office is closed Dec. 20 and will reopen Friday, Dec. 27.

Baltimore County Public Schools close for winter break at the end of the day Friday and will reopen Jan. 2.

Baltimore County government offices and District and Circuit courts will be closed on Dec. 25 in observance of Christmas and Jan. 1 in observance of New Year's Day.

The health department, libraries, senior centers, landfills and drop-off centers and the animal shelter will be closed and the CountyRide van service will not run.

On those days, there will be no charge for metered parking or that of county-operated parking garages.

The courts will also be closed Dec. 24 and 31. County libraries will be closed Dec. 24 and will close at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 31.

All other county offices and services will operate normally Dec. 24 and 31.

There will be no trash pickup on Dec. 25 or Jan. 1.

Residents whose normal trash pickup day is Wednesday should put their trash out on Wednesday night for pickup on Thursdays, Dec. 26 and Jan. 2.

Residents whose recycling is normally picked up on Wednesdays are asked to hold those recyclables until the next scheduled pickup date of Wednesday, Jan. 8, or take them to one of the county's three drop-off centers.

Because of the backup of services, pickup may occur later in the day than usual, according to county officials. If the pickup does not occur on the scheduled day, they should be left out until they are picked up.

Residents can visit baltimorecountymd.gov/solidwaste for more information about recycling and trash collection, including drop-off center locations and hours.

Residents may also call the Bureau of Solid Waste Management at 410-887-2000.
