Kindness of Strangers

I love DUNDALK!!!!

I love DUNDALK~ cannot say it enough.

Last Sunday my car died.  It came to a stop and would not restart.  My husband kept trying to get it started but nope it was not gonna happen.  So he and I began pushing it - we were on School Avenue - some wonderful guy came out of his house and said "hey let me help you".  Afterwards we thanked him and he said "no problem" and walked away.  When the car sat and I guess cooled down we got it started again.  So we drove it home and then on Monday took it to the repair shop.  After several hundred dollars we were told it was good to go.

On Friday I drove the car to do my errands.  Got in front of the Dundalk Pharmacy got prescriptions got in and once again it would not start.  The Pharmacist and owner Bill came outside and got it started.   Thank you Bill.  I drove it to the repair shop and left it.  The owner drove me home.  It was the battery.  So my husband had them replace it.

Today we got in and drove all over Dundalk running errands testing the car. No problem. On our return trip home it died once again.  So we sat and once again after cooling it started up.  We drove it to the repair shop which was closed today.  Right in front of the shop at the stop sign it died once again.

Now this is where the kindness of strangers comes into play.  While sitting there with flashers on people drove past us.  All of the vehicles that went past stopped asked if we were okay, did we need a cell phone, is there anything they could do for us .... incredible!  One girl drove past,  did a turn around, came back to see if we were okay.  Another car with two ladies in it stopped asked if we needed anything then left.  But they too came back to check on us to make sure we were okay.  A couple rode up, rolled down the windows, asked if they could help us.  I mean it went on and on.  One car after the other we got the same response. People cared and wanted to help us.

In a world where so many terrible things become common place and you get to a point where you don't blink at bad news anymore, is our hometown DUNDALK.  Although we are frustrated by the cost and sudden problems with our car, we learned a valuable lesson this week.  The kindness of strangers here in Dundalk overshadowed a broken car.  It made the anger we felt matter just a little less, because strangers took the time to care.

Thank you to everyone who stopped.
