The changes are intended to make schools system information more accessible to the public.

Baltimore County Public Schools Thursday announced a redesigned, restructured website that officials hope will make schools system information more accessible.

The redesign is the first undertaken by the schools system since 2009.

“Making relevant and useful information more accessible to students, families, communities and partners is essential to maintaining two-way communication and facilitating engagement,” Superintendent Dallas Dance said in a statement. “Our technology and communications teams worked with staff from throughout the school system as well as board members, staff, parents and students to revamp our website and make it more user-friendly, flexible and content-rich.”

The new site includes a multi-media tour, links to areas of the site to assist families who speak foreign languages and an index that directs visitors to some of the site’s most popular topics and pages, according to the statement released by the schools system.

The county schools website receives more than 663,000 unique visits each August as the school year starts.
