CCBC Dental Hygiene Expo

CCBC students compete in a national expo.

CCBC dental hygiene students used table clinics on Friday to showcase research work completed during this semesters Dental Hygiene Theory class.

With topics as diverse as probiotics, dissolvable tobacco, Botox in dental work and treating dental patients with autism, the students presented their data on charts, graphs and pictures on posters in the K Building.

Then they gave an oral presentation about their topics.

Alisa Jenny Tissue and Jennifer Sesso presented on Dental Hygiene and Autism: A Piece in the Puzzle.

The two gave dental recommendations for treating patients with autism, listed facts about autism, and gave considerations that should be taken into account when treating an autistic patient.

Elizabeth Karmasek and Stephanie Zander presented on the many dangers of dissolvable tobacco.

"Dissolvable tobacco is not smart to use," said Zander. "it will rot your teeth and your gums."
