Chamber Golf Tourney Funds Scholarships

The $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to students from Patapsco, Dundalk, Sparrows Point and Sollers Point to attend CCBC.

The Dundalk Chamber of Commerce hosts its annual golf tournament at Sparrows Point Country Club on Monday, helping to raise scholarship money for local students to attend CCBC Dundalk.

The event, which begins with a continental breakfast at 7:30 a.m. and follows with a shotgun start at 8:30 is a best ball scramble. Openings for golfers as well as sponsorship opportunities are still available. Foursome packages are $600 and individual golfers are $150. That price includes all greens fees, a cart, breakfast, lunch and beverages.

“We chose to have the event at Sparrows Point Country Club because it gives people a chance to play a private course that they wouldn't be able to play unless they are a member," said Woodrow Powell, director of community relations at CCBC Dundalk.

“The guidance councilors at the individual schools chose the recipients according to our criteria,” said Powell. “The research shows, that most students stay and work in the area when they finish with their degree, so the Chamber is really investing in the future of the Dundalk."
