Kamenetz Celebrates Charlesmont Elementary's Blue Ribbon Status

Dundalk's Charlesmont and Woodlawn's Chadwick Elementary are among six Maryland schools to win the academic recognition.

Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz on Thursday honored two Baltimore County schools recognized by the Maryland State Department of Education as Blue Ribbon Schools.

The principals and other members of the Charlesmont Elementary and Chadwick Elementary school communities received proclamations from Kamentez in honor of their schools being named among only six in the state to achieve the designation based upon academic and student success.

Charlesmont principal Marsha Ayres and PTA president Margie Kolk were among the Charlesmont representatives on hand for the ceremony held in Towson.

Maryland's six Blue Ribbon Schools are now candidates to receive the national Blue Ribbon status from the U.S. Department of Education.

The national designees will be announced in September.
