Lauren Witemore won second place in a photography exhibit celebrating the 50th anniversary of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.

As college students head back to class for the spring semester, many schools are announcing academic honors and other accomplishments of the fall semester.

Dundalk-area students received recognition for their fall semester academic and extra-curricular achievements.

Lauren Witemore won a photography award for a photo she entered in the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford's photography exhibition, "50 and Beyond."

The exhibit was planned as part of Pitt-Bradford's 50th anniversary celebration.

Witemore's photo, "Protector of Evil," took second place in the 50 and Beyond category.

The show is open to the public weekdays through Jan. 31 in the KOA Gallery in Blaisdell Hall, according to a statement from the college.

Senior Christopher Szimanski was named to the Providence College (Rhode Island) Dean's List for the fall semester. To receive the honor, students must earn at least a 3.55 grade-point average with a minimum of 12 credits.
