Patapsco High Student of the Week: BJ Backmon
The Patapsco High School and Center for the Arts senior works hard to make his school a safe and welcoming environment for all, according to teacher Natalie Avallone.
Patapsco High School and Center for the Arts senior BJ Backmon is this week's Student of the Week.
He was nominated for the honor by English teacher Natalie Avallone, who noted the dedicated student spent his Saturday in Annapolis meeting with the Maryland Association of Student Councils to discuss anti-bullying efforts in schools.
"He is a committed member of the GSA (Gay Straight Alliance) and has worked throughout his four years at Patapsco to make this school a safe, supportive and (through his art magnet studies) artfully decorated environment for all," Avallone said in an email to Dundalk Patch.
