Patapsco Students Build Gingerbread House for Festival of Trees

If you're headed to this year's Festival of Trees, make sure you check out an ambitious creation designed and built by Patapsco High School and Center for the Arts students.

Members of the school's National Art Honor Society built a gingerbread house for the annual event that benefits the Kennedy-Krieger Institute.

"Their design this year of Big Ben coming out of a pocket watch with Michael Phelps as Santa was inspired by the 2012 Olympics, an interest (in) British literature, and a nod to Doctor Who," magnet coordinator Liberty Grayek said in an email to Dundalk Patch.

The creation will be on view at the festival and one lucky winner will be able to buy it through an auction at the event, according to Grayek.

The Festival of Trees will be held Nov. 23, 24 and 25, at the Cow Palace at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium. The festival will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Admission is $13 for adults and $7 for senior citizens ages 65 and older and students ages 5 to 12. Children 4 and younger will be admitted free of charge.
