Photos: Storm Shears Norwood Elementary Trees

Saturday's early evening storm tore up the landscaping – and left a portable john tilted a seeming impossible angle.

John Ayres, president of the  Norwood Holabird Community Association, described Saturday's storm damage to Norwood Elementary School landscaping as "moderate," adding he hoped everything could be cleaned up in time for the start of school Aug. 29.

He added that some of trees knocked down at Norwood were part of extensive landscaping improvements over last year.

Ayres said he was also concerned about possible damage to Holabird Middle School from the storm, given budget cuts and the fact that school is scheduled to open in two weeks.

"My hope is there wasn't significant damage to Norwood and Holabird's external buildings and roofs," Ayres said.

"If the principals of either school need assistance getting there respective schools repaired or ready fro the new school year, they can contact NHCA for possible assistance," Ayres said.
