Update: Winter Mix Closes Baltimore County Schools

All CCBC campuses, including Dundalk, and extension centers will open today at 10:00 a.m.

UPDATE (6:15 a.m.) – Baltimore County officials announced that schools will close today due to inclement weather.

A winter storm warning issued by the National Weather Service for last night continues this morning for the Dundalk area.

As projected by the National Weather Service forecast, snow and sleet began Monday at about 8 p.m. It lasted past midnight, and by 3 a.m., the wintry mix was expected to turn into rain or freezing rain.

 The overnight temperature dropped to a low of 29 degrees.

Total nighttime snow and sleet accumulation Monday night was projected to be less than a half-inch.

Due to the weather, the Baltimore County snow emergency plan is in effect. This means: 

  • vehicles traveling on the roads must be equipped with snow or all-weather radial tires or chains
  • no parking is permitted on designated snow emergency routes

The expected rain or freezing rain is expected to become all rain before noon Tuesday as temperatures reach a high of 39 degrees.

There is a 50 percent chance of rain or snow Tuesday night, with rain showers possible Wednesday as well. On Wednesday temperatures are projected top 40 degrees.

A chance of showers before 11am. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 44. Light wind becoming west between 11 and 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. 

Wednesday night: 
Mostly clear, with a low around 26. Northwest wind between 7 and 13 mph. 

Thursday: 
Partly sunny, with a high near 36. Northwest wind around 6 mph becoming calm. 

Thursday night: 
A chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a low around 25. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent.

Friday: 
A chance of snow showers before noon. Mostly cloudy and breezy, with a high near 35. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent.

Friday night: 
Mostly cloudy, with a low around 21.
