Baltimore Blast Evens Record with Win Over Rochester

Baltimore's indoor soccer team defeated Rochester, 12-0, in league action Friday.

By Nicholas Murray, Major Indoor Soccer League

William Vanzela recorded nine saves Friday as the Baltimore Blast shut out the Rochester Lancers, 12-0, at Baltimore Arena to snap a two-game losing stream and move back to .500 in front of 6,023 fans. Frederico Moojen had a pair of goals to lead the Blast attack.

The Blast took the lead late in the first quarter as goals by Adauto Neto and Lucas Roque 59 seconds apart gave them a 4-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. Moojen notched his first three seconds before the halftime break, and Marco Mangione added a fourth to make it 8-0 3:19 into the third quarter.

That was all Vanzela needed as his side controlled the game’s tempo and limited the Lancers to only 13 shots overall. Moojen’s second goal and another by Tony Donatelli in the fourth quarter completed the scoring as Vanzela recorded the second shutout in the MISL this season.
