Charm City Roller Girls’ Home Team Season Returns

On Saturday, September 8, 2012, The Charm City Roller Girls’ home team season returns with a doubleheader featuring all four squads.  In the opener, the Mobtown Mods plan to take a bite out of the previous season’s Donaghy Cup Champions, the undefeated Night Terrors.  In their last meeting, the Terrors used a tenacious offense to shut down the Mods early in the first half.  However, the Terrors have had a few departures in their jammer rotation since that matchup, but the Mods roster has remained virtually unchanged.  Fans should stay focused on this bout because this year’s seasoned, cohesive, and highly defensive Mods bench may finally prove to be the Terrors’ ruin.

Immediately following, the Junkyard Dolls and the Speed Regime hit the track, each determined to nab their first victory of the year.  Both teams ended last season on a high note with the Dolls winning their first home game since 2010 plus a second victory against the Charlottesville Derby Dames, while Speed Regime bravely fought their way to the championships before finally succumbing to the Night Terrors.  Statistics aside, both squads are primed for victory with strategies that could easily upset the competition; the Dolls have deadly blocks and tight partner work while the Regime has fast packs and acrobatic jamming.

Join the fun at the Clarence “Du” Burns Arena, 1301 S. Ellwood Avenue.  Doors open at 5:30 p.m., the first whistle is at 6:30 p.m. with the second bout starting at approximately 8:00 p.m.  This event is family friendly and wheelchair accessible.  Tickets can be purchased at the door for $15, but it’s recommended that patrons buy online at www.missiontix.com; kids under 12 are $5; general admission is $12; and VIP tickets are $25.  Street parking is plentiful and paid parking lots are within walking distance of the venue.

The Charm City Roller Girls (CCRG) is Baltimore's only all-female flat track roller derby league.  CCRG is a member of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) and is proudly skater owned and operated.
