PHOTOS: Dressed for Orange Wednesday

Sparrows Point resident Nancy Olischuk dons a Brooks Robinson jersey in support of the Orioles.

Sparrows Point resident Nancy Olischuk stopped into the Bay Shore Bar and Grill in Edgemere on Wednesday to grab lunch and watch the Baltimore Orioles battle the Boston Red Sox.

Olischuk wasn't aware of Orange Wednesdays, the brainchild of Dundalk native Nancy Cook.

Cook is nurturing a grassroots effort to have Orange Wednesdays—a show of support for the Birds—to take on the appeal and strength of Purple Fridays, which pay homage to the Baltimore Ravens football team.

Olischuk said it was just coincidental that she showed up for a Wednesday afternoon game sporting an orange jersey emblazoned with the number 5, the now-retired jersey number of iconic third baseman Brooks Robinson.

"I'm just wearing it because the Orioles play today," Olischuk said. "I didn't know about Orange Wednesdays but now I do."
