Dundalk's Heritage Fair Named Among Nation's Best Celebrations

A popular vote will determine the winner in a national contest sponsored by Johnsonville.

Greater Dundalk residents—and fans from around the region—have known for 37 years what a great community celebration Heritage Fair is.

Now they have the chance to tell the entire country that the festival created to celebrate the country's Bicentennial is the best in the land.

Thanks to St. Helena resident Dolores Bell, Dundalk's Heritage Fair has been named one of the nation's top 20 community celebrations in Johnsonville's nationwide search for the "Best of US."

"We called on America to share with us the inspiring stories about the events and festivals that make our country great, and we received so many amazing entries—one of which was for Dundalk Heritage Fair," Johnsonville officials said in a letter to Bell. "It was hard to narrow the nominees to just the top 20, and (we) are pleased to announce your nomination is one of them."

Now Dundalk residents, their friends, relatives, neighbors and coworkers need to vote daily in an effort to get Heritage Fair named the best in the land.

On or around June 24, Johnsonville will announce the top 10 Best of US in two categories—community celebrations and educators.

The nomination with the highest number of votes in each category will win the grand prize of $10,000. Nine finalists will each win $1,000.
