Heritage Fair Lineup: Elton, Journey, Queen, Fab Four

Tribute bands will take the main stage to close out this year's Independence Day celebration in Dundalk.

It is said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

If that's the case, Dundalk's Heritage Park will be full of sincerity today when four tribute bands take Heritage Fair's main stage by storm.

The idea to have a slate of bands in a themed entertainment lineup is new this year, according to fair organizers.

"We're really hoping people like the tribute band day," volunteer Marilyn Doyle said Saturday. "And we hope it goes well enough to give us incentive to do it again next year."

The Stage 1 concerts paying homage to big acts get under way at 1:30 p.m. when Captain Fantastic will fill the park with the sounds of Elton John.

The fair will close with the Mahoney Brothers presenting "Long Live the Beatles," a tribute to the Fab Four.

The Stage 2 lineup includes Norm Seifert and Friends (variety, 1 p.m.); The Gigs (classic rock, 3 p.m.); Blue Streak (blues and zydeco, 5 p.m.); and Appaloosa (classic rock and variety, 7:30 p.m.).

Other activities and events include carnival rides, a kids' row with a rock climbing wall, arts and crafts, an animal petting and learning center and pig races.

The complete entertainment schedule is available on the Heritage Park website.

Heritage Fair is held at Heritage Park on Trading Place in downtown Dundalk (behind the Dundalk Village Shopping Center).

Admission is $5 for adults and children 12 and older. Children younger than 12 will be admitted free of charge when accompanied by a paying adult.
