Dundalk Churches, Businesses to Light Up the Historic District Friday

More than 1,000 sidewalk candles and choral music will create a festive ambiance in downtown Dundalk's Main Street area Dec. 20.

Downtown Dundalk's historic district will be awash with luminaries and alive with the sounds of seasonal music Friday night.

The Sky is the Limit community theater program's choir, accompanied on keyboard by Jay Walton, will perform at about 6 p.m. against the backdrop of the gentle glow of the luminaries —small votive candles resting on beds of sand inside small white bags.

New Light Lutheran Church, First Baptist Church of Dundalk, St. George's and St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, St. Rita's Catholic Church, Dunmanway Apartments, the Dundalk-Patapsco Neck Historical Society and Blue Ocean Management Co. are among those who have partnered to provide more than 1,000 luminaries to provide a gentle and seasonal glow to the Main Street area for the occasion.

The mini-festival of music and lights will run from 6 to 10 p.m., according to organizers. The event is free and all residents are invited to enjoy the camaraderie of the season.
