I was given a semi surprise birthday party for my thirtieth, not only was the cake awesomely decorated, it was delicious too. I would like to thank the Fromm's for this wonderfully delicious bakery creation ~Chad~

Cake Connection offers a vast inventory of supplies for making cakes and candy. A sweet smell fills the store as the aisles are full of molds for candy and wafers, cake toppers and icing, brownie pans, lollipop sticks and candles.
Cake Connection also offers cakes made to order for any occassion. Customers can choose from a few books of cake styles and themes, or provide the bakers with an original idea that they will try their best to fulfill. Cake orders generally need 3 days advance notice and three-tiered cakes need 3 weeks notice. Cupcakes have a 2 dozen minimum order and require 4 days notice, while wedding cakes need 3 months notice.
Cake Connection, which is located in the Merritt North Shopping Center in Dundalk just off of the Merritt Boulevard exit of I-695, was started in 1993 by Ed and Shirley Maddy. A dream of Ed's, supported by his lovely wife, they began their cake and candy supply venture together. But in 2009, Ed lost to lung cancer after a 9 month battle. Shirley, with the help of a handful of staff, now continues her husband's dream.

This business has gone downhill since new owners have taken over. I ordered a cake for my sons graduation and the writing went up onto the decoration. The cake was good but the decorations were terrible. There was a HUGE blank place on the cake, where the writing could have actually been written. I cannot believe it looked that bad., The worst part is that when I called to complain, the guy who answered was RUDE, and he was the new OWNER!!! He was not one to be running a business that is for sure. I would have apologized, offered a discount or something to keep me coming back. Never again!
The only word I can use to describe this place is incompetence.
We ordered a 'reveal cake' in which the cake is the either blue or pink on the inside without being able to tell from the outside, so when the cake is cut, it reveals the gender of the baby. We gave them a week to do the cake. When we picked up the cake 5 hours before the party, the icing was thin enough that you could tell the color of the cake on the inside, it had bubbles and cracks in the icing, and the overall decoration looked like it had been done by a ten year old. It was absolutely horrible. Oh, and the color on the inside? Super dark (and nearly a different color). Sad that they said they can do baby colors, then when we pick up the cake tell us they can't. Asked them to fix it, and they said their baker was out for the weekend. I regret even trying to give them a shot, and should have known better when I first walked into the store.
I've shopped at this place for many years. The owners were very nice and always helpful. Their flavors last a long time and is very tasty. However, I haven't been for quite sometime since I moved and had no idea about Ed. I was sad to hear that. He was really a nice person and I met him a few times. I am so sorry for her lost! I am glad that she continued his dream. I am going there today to purchase something and looking forward to it. That is why I pulled up the information to make sure it was still there.
I found the cutest little cupcake toppers here that I looked everywhere for and the prices can not be beat.

This place is great! I have just recently ventured into candy making and the girls in the front were a great help pointing me in the right direction. I went into the store around Mother's Day and they were selling strawberry shortcakes so I ordered on and OMG!!! The best strawberry shortcake ever!!! I will definitely continue to go back
