Dundalk Wrestler Looking for 1000th Victory

Dundalk Middle School eighth-grader Michael Doetsch hopes to achieve the personal milestone this weekend at the May Mat Madness tournament at CCBC Dundalk.

The Maryland Mat Monsters youth wrestling program will take to the mats this weekend when the 3rd annual May Mat Madness tournament gets under way at the Dundalk campus of The Community College of Baltimore County. One wrestler—Dundalk Middle School eighth-grader Michael Doetsch—will be pursuing a wrestling milestone when his first match begins. The young wrestler is looking for his 1,000th victory — a fete that Youth1.com says is a "quite impressive" accomplishment to achieve in such a short time.

Little League Player Nails Unassisted Triple Play

A 7-year-old White Marsh baseball player completed a rare play last week.

OUTSIDE BALTIMORE, MD -- If only Little League had instant replay. Cristian Banks, a 7-year-old Fullerton Elementary student, completed a rare unassisted triple play on May 3. Coach Marty Neff, who has been involved with the White Marsh Recreation Council for the past 10 years, said it was the first time he's seen it done by one of his players. It's unusual outside of Little League, as well. According to MLB.com, only 15 unassisted triple plays have been recorded in Major League Baseball history. VIDEO: Half-Naked Orioles Fan Slides into Home Plate

Christopher E. Fatkin, 20, allegedly ran onto the field of an Orioles game during the seventh-inning stretch on Friday night.

PERRY HALL, Md.—Umpire Jeff Kellogg is being hailed a hero after he tackled a shirtless man during the seventh-inning stretch at Camden Yards Friday night. A family member has confirmed that the alleged streaker, 20-year-old Christopher E. Fatkin of Parkville, was arrested after the incident. YouTube videos show Fatkin sliding into home plate before his run-in with Kellogg. "Kellogg chased him down from behind, wrapped him with both arms and took him to the warning track with an open-field tackle," Patch editor Sean Welsh reported for MLB.com. Fatkin graduated from Perry Hall High School in 2010. According to his Facebook profile, he is a member of the reggae/rock band Sensible Roots. College Student By Day, Pro Wrestler By Night

Jessika Heiser, known as Jessie Kaye in MCW, is pursuing an education at Towson University while also working to achieve her dream of becoming a pro wrestler.

Jessika Heiser gets beat up by guys on a weekly basis and she wouldn’t have it any other way. The 20-year-old Heiser proudly shows off the bruises and cuts that often cover a good portion of her body. Those injuries came following a recent session of training to become a professional wrestler. Heiser is less than two years removed from pursuing her dream. She currently is a regular fixture with Maryland Championship Wrestling. There, she is the evil Jessie Kaye, where her job is to incite the crowd while leading her man MCW veteran Ronnie Zukko to the ring. She also plays the part of MCW’s co-Commissioner as part of "Team McDevitt," a group of "heels" or bad guys led by MCW owner and Middle River resident Dan McDevitt. "I’ve been really …

Boys Lacrosse: Patapsco Soundly Beaten by Kenwood

The Bluebirds bounce back following a loss to Owings Mills with a win over the Patriots to improve to 10-2 on the season.

Junior attack Nick Eliadis scored three goals and had two assists as Kenwood defeated Patapsco 13-6 on Thursday at CCBC Dundalk. Senior attack Jordan Boller scored four goals and had an assist and junior midfielder Eric Ulrich had a goal and three assists for the Bluebirds (10-2), who bounced back following a loss Tuesday to Owings Mills. Also for Kenwood, junior midfielder Troy Hagy scored two goals, senior attack Kevin Dellasantos had a goal and assist and goalie Ben Runk had 15 saves. The Bluebirds put the game away in the second half after they outscored Patapsco 7-1 during that span. Kenwood next plays at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday at Dundalk. St. Joseph's Powered By Me! Hopes to Curb Dangerous Behaviors of High School Athletes

The sixth annual conference for high school athletes will be held on Tuesday in Timonium.

Mike Gimbel has been there. He is the former drug czar for Baltimore County, a recovering drug addict and marathon runner. Now Gimble, as director of St. Joseph Medical Center’s Powered by Me!, wants to help young athletes understand the dangers of drugs, coupled with the pressure of performing both at work and in sports. Powered by Me! is a St. Joseph initiative, which educates high school and college students on the dangers of associated with being a young athlete. The program started out as a means to curb steroid use among athletes. However, six years later, the focus has widened. "We’ve expanded the message over the years to alcohol abuse, domestic violence, to concussions, injury prevention and gambling," Gimbel said. "All aspects of…

Dundalk Native Wants Town to See Orange

Nancy Cook wants sports fans to embrace the Orioles and 'Orange Wednesdays.'

Now that baseball season is in full swing, Dundalk native Nancy Cook wants to paint the town orange. Recognizing how important the "12th man" is to the Baltimore Ravens, the longtime baseball fan wants the 10th man to step forward and embrace the Baltimore Orioles will equal love and enthusiasm. She wants her beloved boys of summer to feel just a small slice of the love shown for the Ravens. And she wants that love to be showered upon the Birds sooner rather than later. "I want to start Orange Wednesdays," she told Dundalk Patch. "The Ravens have Purple Fridays, and I don't want to interfere with that, because some people wear their purple on Fridays year-round."
