This week, however, they are united in their belief that the Ravens will bring back a Super Bowl trophy to Baltimore. For the uninitiated, Robbie Davis, Sr. and Robbie Davis, Jr. are the stars of Ball Boys, an ABC pawn-style reality show filmed at their memorabilia shop Robbie's First Base in Timonium. Looking around the shop on West Ridgely Road, one could make the argument that the Davis boys could retire on their signed helmets, balls and posters should the Ravens beat San Francisco Sunday. She'll be a proud mom on Sunday. She already is. But if history serves as a precursor, she'll also be intensely nervous. Jackie Harbaugh has been here once before—watching sons Jim and John square off as NFL coaches in a Thanksgiving Day game in 2011. Jackie and her husband, Jack, watched the game from a television, out of the view of network television cameras, while their sons coached before a national audience. Finding time with dad can be a challenge when your father is a college football coach. It can be especially challenging if you're the lone daughter amongst three siblings. For Joani Harbaugh, spending time with her father, Jack Harbaugh, meant tagging along to practices. "Well, it was your life. The NFL franchises from Baltimore and San Francisco are both likely to lose Sunday.
They're playing for the Lombardi Trophy, but the Ravens and 49ers are both headed toward a loss on Sunday. Executives from the franchises set to meet in Super Bowl XLVII on Sunday told Bloomberg Businessweek that the organizations are set to lose money. Ravens President Dick Cass told the publication the bill is "significant." “You lose money," he said. "But there are long-term benefits that pay off later. Hey, we work hard all year long to go to the Super Bowl. I don’t think anybody would trade off a short-term loss for winning a Super Bowl." Last postseason, the Giants were to pay out an $88,000 share per player for winning the Super Bowl alone, according to Forbes.com. The head coaches will be the first brothers to compete against each other in an NFL game when the Ravens host the San Francisco 49ers on Thanksgiving.
Ravens coach John Harbaugh remembers as a child converting sleeveless T-shirts into different Big Ten uniforms and competing in makeshift football games against his younger brother, Jim.
