Flea Mart to Benefit Dundalk Relay for Life

The Heart and Sole team will hold the fundraiser this Sunday for the American Cancer Society.

Do you like hunting for treasures by looking through someone else's castoffs? And do you need a special reason to browse for a special find in the land of flea markets? A Dundalk fundraising team is making it easy to accomplish both of those missions this Sunday. Heart and Sole, a Dundalk Relay for Life team, will hold a flea market beginning at 8 a.m. at Walter Jay's Collision Center, 3826 North Point Blvd., on May 19. Relay for Life is an overnight fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. This year's event begins at 6 p.m. June 1 on the Dundalk campus of The Community College of Baltimore County and ends early the next morning. Dundalk Community Theatre Presents 'Chess: The Musical'

The theater group concludes its season with the ABBA musical that opens Friday.

Dundalk Community Theatre will conclude its season with its production of Chess: The Musical, which opens this weekend. Set during the Cold War era, Chess centers around American and Russian Grandmaster chess players who face off in pursuit of the title of International Chess Champion. But more is at stake than the chess title; both men are also vying for the love of the same woman. The musical, which features the music of ABBA, originally opened in London in 1986 and the American version premiered on Broadway in 1988. Police Ask Teens To Apply for Leadership Academy

The department's Youth Leadership Academy is in its seventh year.

The Baltimore County Police Department is giving teens curious about police work a chance to find out what it's all about through an upcoming leadership academy. Teens ages 14 to 18 are encouraged to apply for the Youth Leadership Academy which will be held June 24 to 29 at locations around Baltimore County, according to a news release. The program is limited to 25 students and applications, which can be found on the county website, must be submitted by May 31, the release states. In order to be considered for the program, applicants will have to complete the application, pass a background check, write an essay about why they should be in the program and have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian, according to the release. Star-Gazing Party at CCBC Dundalk Friday

Dundalk residents can get a close-up and personal look at the evening sky, thanks to the gathering at the Sollers Point Road observatory.

If you've ever been accused of being a dreamer, or if you often catch yourself staring at the stars and just standing in awe of the universe around you, the Community College of Baltimore County has just the event for you. The college's Dundalk campus will host a Star Party from 8 to 10 p.m. Friday, March 15, at its observatory on the front lawn of the campus at 7200 Sollers Point Road. The observatory (officially known as T Building) is equipped with a Celestron 14-inch CGE 1400 XLT telescope. CCBC Associate Professor David Ludwikoski runs the star-gazing gatherings, which are free and open to the public. Last Chance: '1940s Radio Music Hour' Closes Today

The Dundalk Community Theatre musical ends its six-performance run with a matinee today.

Dundalk Community Theatre invites you to "swing back to a time when music was grand and life seemed easier" this afternoon with a matinee performance of The 1940s Radio Hour. The musical production celebrates the music of the 1940s with a comedy set inside a radio station, where the talent is broadcasting a Christmas special to the boys fighting overseas in 1942. The theater company, in residence at The Community College of Baltimore County's Dundalk campus, has cast the show "with some of the best local talent around," according to a statement. CCBC Dundalk to Host Job Fair March 8

The free event is sponsored by the Baltimore County Chamber of Commerce, the Baltimore County Office of Workforce development and the college.

A job fair featuring at least 13 employers will be held at the Dundalk campus of The Community College of Baltimore County on March 8. The event is being held jointly by the Baltimore County Chamber of Commerce, Baltimore County's Office of Workforce Development and the college. The free event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the K Building lobby on the Dundalk campus, 7200 Sollers Point Road. Advance registration is not required. "Job seekers are encouraged to smile, bring multiple copies of their résumés and dress for success," according to a statement from the college. Harlem Superstars Coming to Dundalk CCBC

The comedy basketball fundraiser is scheduled for Oct. 27.

This is no average basketball game. Lions men’s basketball of Community College of Baltimore County Dundalk is hosting the Harlem Superstars at 7 p.m. on Oct. 27—and they hope the event will go a long way toward supporting the team.    "[The Harlem Superstars] slam dunk; they dance; they interact with the audience, especially young children, and they will make you laugh out loud. Dundalk Training Cop Charged with Sexual Assault

Harold Williams, a fitness trainer at the Baltimore County Police Academy, is charged with sexually assaulting a female officer.

A Baltimore County Police Department officer has been assigned to administrative duties and charged  with sexual assault as the result of an incident that occurred in March at the department's training academy in Dundalk. Officer Harold Williams, 42, is charged with fourth-degree sexual assault and second-degree assault — both misdemeanors, according to Baltimore County Public Safety spokeswoman Elise Armacost. Williams is accused of sexually assaulting the victim — also a county police officer — while giving her a foot rub after some physical training at the academy on the Dundalk campus of The Community College of Baltimore County, according to a WBAL-TV report.
