Dundalk's Concerts in the Park series will close for the summer tonight with a performance by Impulse. The music will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the gazebo at Heritage Park in downtown Dundalk. Impulse is a variety band that plays music from the 1970s, ’80s and ’90s. The band was originally scheduled to perform on Aug. 9 but the concert was rained out. Because of the band's popularity in Dundalk, concert organizer Angel Ball asked Impulse members if they would be able to reschedule. That collaborative effort to provide free music to the Dundalk community resulted in one more chance for neighbors to get out their lawn chairs and blankets, pack a picnic dinner and gather as a community again. As hard as it is to admit, summer is winding down. The start of a new school year is just around the corner and only two performances remain in Dundalk's free outdoor summer concerts. In tonight's second-to-last edition of the 2012 Concerts in the Park, Impulse will star at Heritage Park's gazebo beginning at 6:30 p.m. The concerts, sponsored by the Dundalk-Eastfield Recreation Council, the Dundalk-Patapsco Neck Historical Society and Angel Ball, are free. Chick-fil-A and Mean Jean's Hot Dog Machine will sell food to hungry patrons. Snowballs, popcorn and "walking tacos" will be sold by rec council program volunteers.
