About 50 chamber members and guests enjoyed a casual evening of crabs and camaraderie at the annual gathering held at the Seasoned Mariner restaurant.
The Seasoned Mariner restaurant provided the setting for the Dundalk Chamber of Commerce's annual crab feast. Some good planning place the Aug. 9 event indoors, just in case oppressive heat or rain should occur. The day ended up offering both weather threats, and the indoor accommodations were welcome. About 50 chamber members and guests took advantage of the opportunity to feast on a local delicacy and enjoy the company of neighbors, friends and colleagues. Dundalk Chamber of Commerce members talked social media with Patch Senior Regional Editor Doug Donovan.
Social media platforms have become almost as much a staple to running a business as bacon and eggs are to breakfast. So the Dundalk Chamber of Commerce mixed the staples on Wednesday when members enjoyed breakfast at the Boulevard Diner and then heard tips about the use of social media, such as Twitter, Facebook and Patch.com, from Patch Senior Regional Editor Doug Donovan. Members from a variety of local businesses, including Enterprise, Bay-Vanguard Federal Savings Bank, Patapsco Bank, Mars supermarkets and Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, networked and learned a little bit about how they can use social media to expand their reach and grow their audiences.

Fourteen educators were nominated for the 2012 awards. One winner was selected for each level of public education schools and the Dundalk campus of CCBC. This letter goes out to all the wonderful people that participated in the Dundalk St. Patrick’’s Day Parade. Our wonderful parade is sponsored by the Dundalk Chamber of Commerce and depends on donors such as Duda-Ruck Funeral Home, Bradley-Ashton Funeral Home, Squire's Restaurant and Tirschman Pallet Company. It takes a lot of organization to put this all together and pray that the weather cooperates because without our donors and nice weather, we cannot perform. It was so heartwarming to see all the people lining the streets to welcome us and cheer us on. This is what it is all about. We are proud of Dundalk and proud of our naming by Mr. Henry McShane. Most importantly, we cannot forget our wonderful police force that kept everything …

Lil Tirschman is "praying to the wee people" that it doesn't rain Saturday. The co-organizer of Dundalk's annual St. Patrick's Day parade is hoping — and asking for the assistance of leprechauns — that the procession can take place as scheduled. Weather has not been kind to the parade in its short history. This year will be the procession's sixth, and weather has canceled it twice — once for rain and another because of snow and ice. "The last I saw, they're calling for rain on Saturday," Tirschman said. "And if it rains, my pipers can't come out, and my antique cars can't come out." The parade began as a nod to Dundalk's Irish roots. Tirschman was always amazed the town founded by bellmaker Henry McShane didn't have a St. Patrick's Day …

More than 100 people gathered for dinner and dancing—not to mention a little bit of karaoke—Saturday night at the Sparrows Point Country Club for the Dundalk Chamber of Commerce's 2012 Gala and Business Awards cermony. Chamber President Sharon Luette and manager Dotty Christy presented awards to five honorees: The event was sponsored by the Community College of Baltimore County, the Dundalk Eagle, McJilton Insurance Services, Mars Supermarkets, the Patapsco Bank, the Boulevard Diner and Patch.com. Olzsewski and his father, County Councilman John Olzsewski Sr., both gave short speeches praising Dundalk's business community. The $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to students from Patapsco, Dundalk, Sparrows Point and Sollers Point to attend CCBC.
The Dundalk Chamber of Commerce hosts its annual golf tournament at Sparrows Point Country Club on Monday, helping to raise scholarship money for local students to attend CCBC Dundalk. The event, which begins with a continental breakfast at 7:30 a.m. and follows with a shotgun start at 8:30 is a best ball scramble. Openings for golfers as well as sponsorship opportunities are still available. Foursome packages are $600 and individual golfers are $150. That price includes all greens fees, a cart, breakfast, lunch and beverages. “We chose to have the event at Sparrows Point Country Club because it gives people a chance to play a private course that they wouldn't be able to play unless they are a member," said Woodrow Powell, director of …

The market will be open every Saturday morning, from 6 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., selling locally-grown produce and locally-made baked goods.
With the first day of the Dundalk Farmers' Market every year comes a sea of regulars – customers and vendors. Every vendor selling at the market this year is a returning, tried and true, Dundalk Farmer’s Market loyalist. Some have been selling their produce at the market for over two decades. Even the youngest vendor is starting their second year. By the same token, many of the customers leaving with bags of fresh jams, flowers, and tomatoes Saturday are those same, smiling faces that the farmers run into year after year. It’s a small reunion of sorts every weekend that the market is open, which lasts until the Saturday before Thanksgiving. The market will be open every Saturday morning, from 6 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., selling locally-…
