Dundalk Community Theatre Presents 'Chess: The Musical'

The theater group concludes its season with the ABBA musical that opens Friday.

Dundalk Community Theatre will conclude its season with its production of Chess: The Musical, which opens this weekend. Set during the Cold War era, Chess centers around American and Russian Grandmaster chess players who face off in pursuit of the title of International Chess Champion. But more is at stake than the chess title; both men are also vying for the love of the same woman. The musical, which features the music of ABBA, originally opened in London in 1986 and the American version premiered on Broadway in 1988. Last Chance: '1940s Radio Music Hour' Closes Today

The Dundalk Community Theatre musical ends its six-performance run with a matinee today.

Dundalk Community Theatre invites you to "swing back to a time when music was grand and life seemed easier" this afternoon with a matinee performance of The 1940s Radio Hour. The musical production celebrates the music of the 1940s with a comedy set inside a radio station, where the talent is broadcasting a Christmas special to the boys fighting overseas in 1942. The theater company, in residence at The Community College of Baltimore County's Dundalk campus, has cast the show "with some of the best local talent around," according to a statement. Dundalk Community Theatre Presents 'Titanic: The Musical'

The DCT production, which coincides with the centennial year of the sinking of the Titanic while it was on its maiden voyage, runs Oct. 26 through Nov. 4.

Dundalk Community Theatre, in residence at the Dundalk campus of The Community College of Baltimore County, will present its production of Titanic: The Musical for six performances beginning Oct. 26. The theater group will bring Titanic to the local stage in the year that marks the centennial of the sinking of the legendary (and reportedly unsinkable) ship. Titanic introduces the audience to the stories of the third-class immigrants who boarded the ship on its maiden voyage hoping to start a new and better life in America and the second-class passengers who dreamed of becoming infamous like their first-class counterparts, according to a statement from theater officials. DCT to Present 'All Shook Up' This Weekend

The new musical is based on the music of Elvis Presley, but is not a biographical revue.

  Dundalk Community Theatre, in residence at The Community College of Baltimore County, Dundalk campus, will present "All Shook Up" this weekend and next. The new musical, set in the 1950s and based on the music of Elvis Presley, will be held in the John E. Ravekes Theater May 5-6 and 11-13. While the show is based on Presley's music, it is not a biographical revue, according to theater officials. The show is set in 1955, "somewhere in middle America, where one girl's dream and a surprise visit from a mysterious leather-jacketed, guitar-playing stranger help a small town to discover the magic of romance and the power of rock and roll," according to a statement from the theater.
