Last Chance: Dundalk Farmers Market

Saturday is your last chance of the season to buy farm-fresh vegetables and other farm-to-the-table items like eggs, honey, meat and other items.

With Thanksgiving next Thursday, many cooks and host and hostesses will be looking to find fresh and local food items for their annual family feasts. With that in mind, the Dundalk Farmers Market will be open one last time for the season when it holds court along Shipping Place from 7 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Local farmers will offer their last batches of fresh vegetables as well as items like honey, eggs, beef, chicken and flowers. The farmers have their stands along the Dundalk Village Shopping Center, near the Dundalk Post Office and Veterans Park. Buy fresh, buy local and say good-bye to your local farmers for the winter!

Dundalk Farmers Market Open for Business Today

Seven vendors offer a variety of produce, meats and flowers.

The Dundalk Farmers Market is open for business, with a variety of produce and other food items available in the outdoor mart in downtown Dundalk. The market has for years opened on the first Saturday after Dundalk's Heritage Fair, but farmers and customers alike wanted to get a head start this summer and opened for the season on June 9. In addition to traditional farm vegetables, vendors are also offering chicken and beef, eggs, honey, pee pollen, jams and jellies and flowers. Seven farmers are now participating, including Edgemere's West Farm, according to Lil Tirschman, who helps organize the mart. The market will be open today from 7 a.m. to noon. It will be closed Saturday, June 30 while the Heritage Fair is open, and then will reopen…

Dundalk Farmers Market to Open Saturday

Because of popular demand, the market will open about four weeks earlier than usual.

The people asked and they shall receive. Because of popular demand — from both farmers and customers — the Dundalk Farmers Market will open for the season on June 9, instead of waiting until the weekend after Heritage Fair. Shoppers looking for local produce, eggs, chicken and honey will have their chance again beginning Saturday at 7 a.m., according to Chamber of Commerce member Lil Tirschman, who has chaired the market effort in the past. At least seven farmers are expected the first week, Tirschman said, including those who will sell produce, eggs, honey and soft crabs. The market, which is held along Shipping Place in front of the Dundalk Village Shopping Center, will be open from 7 a.m. to noon. The market will not be open June 30 …

Farmers' Market: Produce and Smiling Faces

The market will be open every Saturday morning, from 6 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., selling locally-grown produce and locally-made baked goods.

With the first day of the Dundalk Farmers' Market every year comes a sea of regulars –  customers and vendors. Every vendor selling at the market this year is a returning, tried and true, Dundalk Farmer’s Market loyalist. Some have been selling their produce at the market for over two decades. Even the youngest vendor is starting their second year. By the same token, many of the customers leaving with bags of fresh jams, flowers, and tomatoes Saturday are those same, smiling faces that the farmers run into year after year.  It’s a small reunion of sorts every weekend that the market is open, which lasts until the Saturday before Thanksgiving. The market will be open every Saturday morning, from 6 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., selling locally-…
