Kamenetz Declares State of Emergency

County plans to open a shelter at Eastern Technical High School at 1 p.m.

UPDATED (11:59 a.m.)—Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz has declared a state of emergency in Baltimore County. The county has also announced that it will open its first Hurricane Sandy-related emergency shelter at Eastern Technical High School at 1 p.m. The shelter accepts pets, who will be kept in a separate, ventilated portion of the building. Owners will be allowed to visit with their pets while at the shelter. Two state-run shelters in the county are are currently open and available to residents. The state-run shelters are: Neither state-run shelter accepts pets.
