Your Photos: Walking in a Spring Wonderland?

Dundalk residents woke up to a snow day on March 25, after a winter that saw little to no snow.

After getting through three fairly mild winters, almost as Mother Nature's apology for the blizzards of 2010, the Baltimore region woke up Monday morning to a snowfall that closed schools in the metropolitan area. This morning, I swept about two inches of snow off my car. It stopped snowing, then rained a little and now it's snowing again. I took a few photos on the North Point peninsula, including farm fields, the Millers Island welcome sign, Todd's Inheritance and the garden that pays homage to Edgemere's "boat house," which was destroyed by Tropical Storm Isabel in 2003. The roads I've seen are now plowed, but many parking lots and walkways are heavy with slippery slush. What's it look like in your neighborhood? Add your photos to this …

Police determined the injured woman was attacked by at least one of her pet pit bull dogs. She suffered serious injuries and was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center for treatment. Both dogs ran off after the attack. Police officials alerted neighbors in the area of the possible danger of the two dogs—one white, the other brown—running loose in the Edgemere-Fort …

There is nothing inherently dangerous about the breed. What IS dangerous is that any time one of them is involved in a bite incident it is worthy of national news coverage. One of the breeds that most commonly sends people to the ER is the Chihuahua but you never hear of this in the news (it is not sensational enough). How about a survey of every ER bite that involves something OTHER than a Pit. …   more ›

Thanks to everyone who stopped by the Fort Howard History tent. I talked to so many nice folks, many of whom had connections to the fort or to the hospital. I hope they all left the event with a little more appreciation for the history of the place. I know I did. Ray Scott   more ›
