Dundalk Patch presents its Photo of the Day.
North Point State Park once again provides the subject of today's Photo of the Day. Edgemere photographer Kris Kondylas captured this image of a red-bellied woodpecker scrounging for food. The bird seems to be saying, "What's in here?" Kondylas wrote in an email to Patch. Dundalk Patch presents its Photo of the Day.
Edgemere photographer Kris Kondylas, putting a new camera through a workout, headed to North Point State Park—a favorite shooting location for local photographers. He captured this image of a bird hanging from a "monkey ball" that was in turn still clinging to a tree at the Edgemere park. "I am not sure what type of bird is in the ... photo," Kondylas said in an email to Dundalk Patch. "I tried doing a little research and wasn't able to find anything. All I know is it was a hyper little thing and I was able to capture it hanging from the monkey ball." Maybe some of Patch's birdwatchers can identify the bird for us. Dundalk Patch presents its Photo of the Day.
Edgemere photographer Kris Kondylas got a new camera for Christmas and immediately headed to North Point State Park, a favorite spot for local photographers in search of nature shots, to try it out. Kondylas said he was inspired by a recent photo by Jimmy Rode to get his own photos of a female cardinal. With new camera in tow, he spotted this beauty as she foraged and flew through the waterfront park. "After following her through the trail for a while she finally rested in this tree and let me snap away at her," Kondylas said in an email to Dundalk Patch. Kris Kondylas submitted the following narrative to accompany today's Photo of the Day: A few friends and family members of mine were on the boat out in front of Bay Front Road in Edgemere (Old Road Bay), watching everyone light off fireworks on the 4th of July. A friend of ours that came along saw these lanterns on Amazon.com a few weeks before and thought they looked cool to try them out when we all went out on the boat for the 4th. They kind of act like mini hot air balloons. They have a little cardboard piece on the bottom center that you light with a lighter. I think there is some kind of chemical on the cardboard that allows a flame to burn slow and steady. After the lantern fills up with the hot air, up and away it goes. You do not …
