Dundalk Patch presents its Photo of the Day.
The Baltimore Orioles, by playing Orioles baseball the old-fashioned way that older loyal fans remember, are enjoying a new fan base and a new love from Baltimore. They may have allowed the final game of a four-game series against the Oakland Athletics get away from them Sunday but, as the saying goes, you can't win them all. Dundalk photographer Jimmy Rode pays homage to the baseball Birds with this shot of a Baltimore Oriole, taken recently at North Point State Park in Edgemere. View previous Photos of the Day here. Dundalk Patch presents its Photo of the Day.
Dundalk photographer Jimmy Rode captured this image of a female wood duck walking along a tree branch at the North Point State Park. This might be the first female wood duck I've ever seen, but it's definitely the first time I've ever seen a duck in a tree. View previous Photos of the Day here. Dundalk Patch presents its Photo of the Day.
Dundalk nature photographer Jimmy Rode has become a regular contributor to Dundalk Patch's Photo of the Day feature, and many people have asked about him. Photographer Kevin Moore, a friend of Rode's from his school days, offered a collage of pictures of Rode with his children, Adam and Yasmine, on a photo shoot at North Point State Park, where he has taken many beautiful pictures of widlife and scenery. Many of you might know Rode in another role. When he isn't shooting pictures or being a devoted family man, he's slinging drinks at the Bay Cafe, where he's known for his great service, constant smile and terrific sense of humor. In full disclosure, I was a classmate of both Moore and Rode at Kenwood High School in the (decade redacted). …

Dundalk Patch presents its Photo of the Day.
Dundalk photographer Jimmy Rode continues to share his relationship with North Point State Park by sharing with us another image captured at the Edgemere open space. He preserved this image of a female cardinal that looks well-fed and prepared to do battle with winter. Either that or she's puffed out to scare off a lurking photographer. North Point State Park once again provides the subject of today's Photo of the Day. Edgemere photographer Kris Kondylas captured this image of a red-bellied woodpecker scrounging for food. If you're gonna show us snakes in North Point Park, do them critters and us a favor - name the species photographed. I'm not much of a snake handler, but I've had to deal with a few through the years. In northern Maryland, I've had a heck of a time telling a nonvenomous Water Snake from the similar looking venomous Copperhead. And they look similar so the Water Snake can scare away natural wild …   more ›
