'No Contest' Declared in Dundalk's Kids' Haircuts Poll

Four salons tie with one vote each in this week's Readers' Choice.

What a difference a week makes. Last week, two local establishments duked it out for Dundalk's bragging rights when it comes to holding the town's favorite St. Patrick's Day celebration. Nearly 1,000 votes were cast, and a total of eight places received votes. This week, Patch asked you to weigh in on your favorite place to get kids' haircuts. Only four votes were cast, which unfortunately ended in a four-way tie, with four salons—Dejavu Salon and Spa, Hair Cuttery, Bonnie's Unisex Hairshop and Great Clips—each receiving one vote. Readers' Choice: Best Place to Celebrate St. Paddy's Day

Whether your favorite place to celebrate the day of wearing o' the green is at a local pub, church dinner or neighborhood parade, we want you to vote in our poll.

St. Patrick's Day is celebrated on March 17, which is the saint's religious feast day and also the anniversary of his fifth-century death, according to history.com. In Ireland, the holiday is associated with morning church services and  afternoon celebrations, according to the website. Because St. Patrick's Day falls within the Christian season of Lent, which prohibits the consumption of meat, special waivers allow people to dance, drink and eat the traditional meal of Irish bacon and cabbage on the day that honors the nation's patron saint. Here in the United States, the holiday is more known for drinking parties and the wearing o' the green. This week, Patch is asking you to choose your favorite place to celebrate St. Patrick's Day: …
