Patapsco High Students Place in Competitive Art Exhibition

Two Patapsco High School and Center for the Arts seniors won awards in the Optimist Club of Timonium's Young Artists Showcase.

Patapsco High School and Center for the Arts students continue to win recognition for both their school and their artwork. Two students recently won awards in the Young Artists Showcase, an art exhibition sponsored by the Optimist Club of Timonium, school officials have announced. Senior Alaina Savarese received first place honors in photography while senior Safiya Brown was named the third-place winner in painting. Brown made news just last week when it was announced she won a countywide magnet school poster contest.That award-winning work will be featured in Baltimore County Public Schools magnet program literature next year, and also advances to a national competition sponsored by Magnet Schools of America. Patapsco High Senior Wins Poster Contest

Senior Safiya Brown advances to national contest; senior Caleb Harrison earns honorable mention in local competition.

Patapsco High School and Center for the Arts senior Safiya Brown will graduate in June, but she will continue to have a visible presence in Baltimore County Public Schools all next school year. The art student designed a poster and entered it in Baltimore County's magnet school poster competition. Her entry was selected as the countywide winner, which means her artwork will be featured in next year's magnet publications, according to a statement from the school. Brown also advances to the national magnet school poster contest, which is sponsored by Magnet Schools of America.
