A third man has accused the Turner Station native of engaging in underage sex with him.
A third man has stepped forward to accuse puppeteer Kevin Clash of engaging in a sexual relationship with him while he was underage. Clash, a Dundalk native, is accused of using alcohol to "groom" the then-16-year-old boy into sexual activity, the New York Daily News reported today. The paper cited a lawsuit filed by the accuser using the name "John Doe" in Manhattan Federal Court on Tuesday. The accuser, now 29, claims to have met Clash in 2000 on a gay phone chat line when he was a 16-year-old aspiring model from New Jersey. Clash resigned from his job as the voice of Elmo last week after a $5 million lawsuit was filed by Cecil Singleton, 24, who claims that Clash had sex with him when he was 15. TMZ reported a lawsuit filed by a second man accuses Clash of having underage sex with him.
As news spread Tuesday of puppeteer Kevin Clash's resignation from Sesame Street, the website TMZ reported that the resignation comes after the filing of a lawsuit against Clash by a second accuser. TMZ reported that Cecil Singleton, the accuser named in the suit, alleges that Clash had a sexual relationship with him in 2003. Singleton, now 24, according to the website, claims that he met Clash on a gay phone chat line, and also said that Clash "trolled" such phone chat rooms "to meet and have sex with underage boys." Singleton is demanding more than $5 million in his lawsuit against Clash, according to TMZ. Clash, 52, is a Turner Station native and a 1979 graduate of Dundalk High School. Turner Station native Kevin Clash has resigned from Sesame Street, bringing to an end his long tenure as the voice, personality and heart of the iconic muppet Elmo. His resignation comes in the aftermath of allegations that he had an underage sexual relationship with Sheldon Stephens, who initially claimed the relationship occurred when he was just 16. Turner Station native Kevin Clash, the puppeteer who has endeared himself to countless children as the voice of Sesame Street muppet Elmo, has taken a leave of absence from his job amid allegations of sexual impropriety. The Dundalk High School graduate, long a supporter of philanthropic efforts in his hometown, stands accused of having sex with a then-16-year-old boy, according to TMZ. The Creative Alliance at The Patterson honored one of Turner Station’s most famous residents at its annual Marquee Ball earlier this month. Kevin Clash, creator of Elmo on Sesame Street, received the organization’s 2011 Gold Formstone Award for his outstanding contribution to the arts in Baltimore. Clash, 50, was born to Gladys and George Clash, who still reside in the Baltimore area.
