The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has determined that the death of Darnell William Butler was a suicide.
UPDATED (1:45 p.m.)— The death of a Baltimore man whose body was found in Reisterstown Saturday was ruled a suicide by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Police found the body of Darnell William Butler, 24, of the 3800 block of Ferndale Avenue, at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in a wooded area near the intersection of Hanover Pike and Butler Road. A handgun was recovered at the scene, and the cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound, according to a Baltimore County Police press release. The body was found in multiple pieces from "animal activity," according to Bruce Goldfarb, spokesman for the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. A woman who lived at the same home as Nathaniel McCormick, the man killed by Baltimore County police Sunday night following a 911 call about a potential suicide, says police didn't need the shoot him. The Baltimore Sun reports that Sandra Jacobs, whose daughter dated McCormick and also lived in the same home in the 7300 block of Berkshire Road, said McCormick was only armed with pen knives. Jacobs told the Baltimore Sun that her daughter had gotten into an argument with McCormick and was concerned he might harm himself. She said that she and her daughter and two grandchildren were standing outside the home, and that her daughter had been asking police to call an ambulance to take McCormick to the hospital and calm him down. The death of a Dundalk man who leaped from a highway overpass while fleeing police earlier this month has officially been ruled a suicide. Tommy Andrew Willig, 38, of the 7100 block of Holabird Avenue, died after jumping off an Interstate-695 overpass near Edgemere on Aug. 10. A high-speed chase involving Willig and police was the result of an open warrant for Willig’s arrest, following allegations of stalking, telephone harassment and trespassing by an ex-girlfriend, Baltimore County police said. Officials said Flanagan last spoke to his wife at 1 a.m. on Aug. 24 and was found dead near his Sparks home later the same day.
Former Orioles pitcher and executive Mike Flanagan’s death has officially been ruled a suicide, according to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner. Baltimore County police spokeswoman Elise Armacost said Thursday during a news conference that Flanagan died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Flanagan was 59. Armacost said police discovered Flanagan’s body after responding to his home, located in the 15000 block of York Road near Sparks, at 4:26 p.m. Wednesday. UPDATE (3:55 p.m.) A Dundalk man died Wednesday night after jumping off an Interstate-695 overpass near North Point Boulevard in Edgemere, according to Baltimore County police. Baltimore County police identified the victim as Tommy Andrew Willig, 38, and said he was from the Dundalk area, but did not provide an address. Police Sgt. Benjamin Yohe said officers found the victim and applied first aid until emergency medical personnel responded, but he was pronounced dead at scene.
