Traffic Pattern at Dundalk High Changing in April

The bus loop will have a new route around Delvale Avenue after spring break.

Although Dundalk High School students are on spring break, there is quite a bit of work being done on campus. The new Dundalk-Sollers Point High School is in its final stages, according to the April 2013 Dundalk High School Newsletter, which reported that construction was 90 percent complete. Students at Dundalk began spring break Friday, and they will return on April 8 to find a new traffic pattern in place so the new building can be finished, according to the newsletter. Effective through the end of the school year, the gravel parking lot will be closed; the upper front Delvale entrance drive will be closed; and the cafeteria lot will be closed for vehicles other than buses from 7 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., the newsletter said. Info Released About Crash That Killed Lacrosse Coach from Dundalk

A toxicology test and a lawsuit have been making headlines in Pennsylvania, where the bus crash that killed Kristina Trionfo Quigley occurred.

When a Dundalk High School alumna was killed in a bus crash on the Pennsylvania Turnpike March 16, officials said it was unclear what caused the crash. Kristina Trionfo Quigley, who graduated from Dundalk in 2001, was on the bus with the Seton Hill University lacrosse team she coached when the vehicle crashed, killing her and the driver. The bus veered off the Pennsylvania Turnpike and hit a guardrail before slamming into a tree, leaving a hole in the vehicle, The Patriot-News reported. One of the Seton Hill lacrosse players injured in the crash is suing the bus company for negligence on the part of the driver, according to CBS 21 News. Dundalk High to Host Cluster Art Show on Wednesday

Hundreds of students from Dundalk High's feeder schools will have their work on display.

Student artists of all ages will have their work on display at the Fourth Annual Dundalk School Cluster Art Exhibit from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Students from Berkshire, Colgate, Dundalk, Logan and Norwood Elementary, Dundalk and Holabird Middle and Dundalk High schools will turn the high school gym into a massive art gallery for the evening. The show will feature hundreds of students' artwork, as well as performance art and "make and take" art activities, according to Dundalk High Principal Tom Shouldice. "As always, the community is invited," Shouldice said in an email to Patch. Dundalk High is at 1901 Delvale Ave.

Multiple Memorials Honor Fallen Lacrosse Coach From Dundalk

In the days following Kristina Quigley's death, mourners have spanned states and shown their support for the fallen coach everywhere from the field to Facebook. Quigley, 30, a Dundalk graduate, was the head coach of the Seton Hill University lacrosse team that was bound for a weekend game when the bus veered off the Pennsylvania Turnpike Saturday morning, killing the coach and the driver. Quigley was six months pregnant. The students Quigley coached at the Catholic university outside Pittsburgh created a memorial for her near a lacrosse goal, which The Patriot-News photographed. Seton Hill Lacrosse Coach Who Died in Team Crash was Dundalk Graduate

Kristina Quigley, 30, was pregnant. She was one of two who died in the crash that made national headlines; several others were injured.

A 30-year-old Dundalk High School graduate was among two killed in a crash in which a bus carrying the Seton Hill University women’s lacrosse team crashed into a tree in Pennsylvania, The Baltimore Sun reports. The bus was carrying Kristina Quigley, the university's head women's lacrosse coach, 23 students and two other coaches to a match around 9 a.m. Saturday when the bus veered off the road and hit a tree, according to the Baltimore Sun story. The driver of the bus died at the scene, the story states. Quigley died of injuries at the Hershey Medical Center. She was six months pregnant and her unborn child also did not survive, according to news reports. Quigley, whose maiden name was Trionfo, graduated from Dundalk High School in 2001 …

Dundalk Renaissance Corp. Announces Milestone Award Winners

The Sixth Annual Renaissance Milestone Awards will be presented March 23 at the Sparrows Point Country Club.

The Dundalk Renaissance Corp. has announced the recipients of its annual Renaissance Milestone Awards. The recognition program recognizes the contributions of some of the many people and institutions that help make Dundalk's community revitalization possible, according to a statement from the organization. During its sixth annual Milestone Awards program, set for March 23, at the Sparrows Point Country Club, the organization will honor the following: Renaissance Cornerstone Award: "Team Dundalk High" Team Dundalk High "clearly demonstrates how effective it is when parents, volunteers, students, teachers, staff and administrators come together," according to the statement. Three Dundalk Students Named Carson Scholars

Two students are repeat winners in the scholarship program sponsored by Johns Hopkins Hospital pediatric neurosurgeon Benjamin Carson.

Three Greater Dundalk students are among the 54 Baltimore County Public Schools students to be named 2013 Carson Scholars by the Carson Scholars Fund. The program, named for world-renowned Johns Hopkins Hospital pediatric neurosurgeon Benjamin Carson and his wife, Candy, recognizes students in grades four through 11 who "demonstrate outstanding achievement and humanitarian qualities," according to a statement from school system officials. Each Carson Scholar receives a $1,000 college scholarship, and may reapply for the honor from year to year. UPDATE: Dundalk High School Open Thursday

Baltimore County Public Schools announced the closure on its website.

Dundalk High School is open Thursday, according to the Baltimore County Public Schools website.  The school was initially scheduled to be closed Thursday, but power was restored in time for Dundalk to open on time. The school was closed for three days as a result of super storm Sandy.
